I grew up thinking my voice was ugly, and I never once considered becoming a voice actress until recently. To my surprise, there’s an audience for everyone! Many people have told me they find my voice beautiful and soothing. I still struggle to believe it sometimes, but it’s been such a blessing to receive so much support from the VA/VO community and beyond.

Sometimes we’re our own worst critics. Start believing in yourself and advocating for yourself! 🫶🏼

Out of all the characters I’ve been hand drawing for @theadventuresofpencilman , Bob the Sheep might be one of the cutest in Education Ville… I mean, look at that sweet face! 🥹🥰

Bob is the voice of wisdom in the show, always guiding Pencil Man and his friends with lessons on kindness, respect, and listening to your elders. His eyesight isn’t what it used to be, so he never forgets his trusty glasses when it’s time to tell a story… and oh, are they baaaaa-utiful!

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be voicing Tiza the Chalk in @theadventuresofpencilman!

Tiza is a bilingual character who will teach kids words in both English and Spanish.

I was given the opportunity to imagine Tiza’s character from the very beginning, including her initial concept, so I was able to fully embrace my creativity. I created her name, hand-drew her physical appearance, wrote her dialogue for Episode One, and will be her voice actress.

I can’t wait to see her come to life! 🫶🏼

Last year, on this day, the Jet Set’s concrete roof collapsed while Rubi Pérez was hosting a concert with over 500 people inside.

236 lives were lost, among them, dear friends and their families. Over 180 more were severely injured. An entire country mourned. My soul was shattered.

“Jet Set” was the first poem I ever wrote in English. Since I was a child, I’ve expressed myself through art: poetry, drawings, anything that could hold what I felt. In order to write this poem, I leaned on Google Translate and Thesaurus to help me translate the emotions my heart understood, but my words struggled to carry.

This poem became the beginning of something bigger. Initially I only shared my poems paired with my graphite drawings and just some background music. Then one day, someone said, “Why don’t you narrate your poems? You have a beautiful voice…”

That moment quietly gave birth to my career as a voice actress, even though I didn’t know what it meant at the time.

Along the way, I met incredible people who brought light into my life. But I also faced some of the most painful and traumatic experiences I’ve ever endured. There are people in this world who choose to live only to tear others down, but I chose to walk away, and to move toward something brighter, bigger, and better.

And here I am. All of me.

If you’re still reading this: thank you for being here, for seeing me, for seeing my heart, but more than anything, thank you for your love and support.

Life is fragile. The Jet Set tragedy is a cruel reminder of it. Hold your loved ones close tonight. Tell them you love them while you still can.

Rest in peace, my friends. You are in a better place now 🖤

It’s been a joy helping refine the art for @theadventuresofpencilman by reimagining the original concept sketches and drawing them by hand. We’re thrilled with how these characters are evolving and can’t wait to see episode one come to life.

I also helped write Episode One’s script and will be the voice actress for one of the characters, Tiza. She’s a bilingual Chalk who will teach kids words in both English and Spanish. I’ll tell you all about her later.

The event was hosted at the AIA Center for Architecture in NY, and it was completely sold out and packed!

Feliz Día de la Independencia Dominicana! 🇩🇴

I need structure. A plan to follow. This is the way I get things done.

So as I’m taking my voice acting journey very seriously, I created a simple schedule to go through the @voicelings Academy modules from the start to finish in a timely manner, and actually stay accountable to the homework.

Our first assignment was to create a cartoon character, and @tarastrong gave us some guidelines to follow. Our character needed to be an Alien, any gender, 16 yeas old, among other things.

Now… if you know me, you know I don’t usually draw cartoons or do color. I live in the world of graphite and charcoal. But I wanted to challenge myself and have some fun with it.

So I imagined her…
Half alien, half Dominican 🇩🇴
A little Latina flair ✨
Long dark hair, tan skin, deep eyes… and repping her roots.

All I had on hand were my daughter’s colored pencils… so I made it work. Here’s a quick timelapse from start to finish.

I’m just gonna leave this here… and then run away dramatically 😅

Here’s my take on the Supervillain Voice Acting Challenge in collaboration with the incredibly talented @abigailcareyvo and @tarastrong’s @voicelings Academy.

It’s my first time doing one of these challenges, and of course all I can see are the flaws. The pacing and timing was so tricky! I actually recorded a first version yesterday… and that one will never see the light of day 😂. Huge thank you to the friends who watched it, gave me honest feedback, and encouraged me to give it another shot. You know who you are! 🫶🏼

I’m really proud of myself for not giving up, being humble enough to try again, but mainly for gathering the courage to put myself out there. I know I’ll look back at this video a few months from now and see the progress with pride.

So grateful for everyone in the Voicelings community. Thank you for being so welcoming, supportive, and endlessly inspiring! 🙏🏼

A while ago, I shared this drawing alongside a beautiful poem. I will be sharing that poem again soon, this time with a refreshed narration in my own voice.

Back then, I was so focused on the weight of the words in my poems and the way the narration (if any) breathed life into them, that I unintentionally left the stories behind the drawings untold. In my mind, it was never about the drawings themselves. It was about the poetry. So I shared only the final pieces, usually after adding subtle movement to the still drawings I created, so the reels would not feel static or lifeless.

But by not sharing the process behind them, I left room for speculation. Some people questioned not only my skills, but also my integrity as an artist.

With this particular drawing, it was said to be the original. I chose to take that as a compliment. Even though the comments were untrue and ill-intentioned, I am grateful I was able to draw it close enough for people to wonder.

But as the saying goes: “The truth shall set you free.” In this case, my sketchbook does too.

For clarity and credit, this drawing was inspired by @vpraveenart. Your work is beautiful, and I truly admire it. I hope to reach your level someday.

The moral of the story: We need to focus on the positive. Uplifting others is far more rewarding than tearing them down. Love more. Be kind. Sprinkle joy wherever you go. The world needs the more compassionate version of us 🫶🏼

This piece is my ode to that unforgettable first-kiss feeling: the charged silence, the suspended breath, the fragile space between yearning and surrender. It’s about the electricity of anticipation… the gravity of closeness… the way one moment can quietly rearrange our entire world.

If you’ve ever felt time slow, senses heighten, and everything narrow down to a single heartbeat, this one’s for you! 😘

And now… without further ado:

In prose we say: “I long to kiss you”… In poetry we say:

I dream of the hush before it happens,
that moment when the world holds its breath,
and our lips wait,
hovering, between almost and always.

The glance that lingers.
The air that thickens.
The space so close…
it hums.

My eyes are hooded.
Unfocused. In trance.
Harvesting my hunger
to feast at last.

I’m fixed on your presence,
fixed on your lips,
fixed on this universal language
of need.

It’s a chokehold.
I can’t breathe.

Y’all have been so sweet in my DMs about this photo from my stories that I decided to share it (along with a couple more, swipe to see the rest) as a permanent post. I didn’t post it before because of self-doubt. All I could think was, “I should have put some lipstick on”… but you know what? It doesn’t matter.

I’m here writing poetry and telling others how beautiful they are, meanwhile I tend to forget to say it to myself. Also… imperfections are the new perfect, am I right?! 🙃
